La lunga sessione di protesta partita il 25, 26, 27 maggio a Roma, è continuata il 31 maggio e l’1 giugno con sit-in davanti alle Prefetture di varie città d’Italia con l’obiettivo di accelerare il processo di approvazione della LIS. Il’1 giugno a Roma la XII Commissione, ai fini di meglio analizzare la proposta di legge n. 4207, ha convocato nuove Audizioni alle quali hanno partecipato cinque istituzioni competenti in materia: (1) l’ISTC-CNR, (2) l’ISSR, (3) la Cooperativa Il Treno, (4) l’ESMHD, (5) il SILIS. I deputati hanno ascoltato con attenzione e interesse le relazioni dei rappresentanti dei cinque gruppi, richiedendo anche un approfondimento delle informazioni ricevute.

Tuttavia, quel giorno era presente un numero di deputati decisamente inferiore rispetto a quello atteso, il che ha creato grande preoccupazione all’interno del Gruppo LIS Subito! in vista dell’approssimarsi della seduta parlamentare prevista per il 7 giugno, in cui doveva essere deciso se approvare definitivamente oppure modificare il testo della proposta di legge per rimandarlo al Senato.

A causa di questa forte preoccupazione, il Gruppo LIS Subito! ha deciso di organizzare una nuova manifestazione per il 7 giugno, sempre a Roma, con la presenza di persone da vari luoghi d’Italia per richiedere il riconoscimento immediato della LIS.Nello stesso giorno sono continuati i sit-in per protestare a gran voce davanti alle Prefetture delle varie città d’Italia. I manifestanti sono stati accolti, e dopo aver dato tutte le informazioni sono state inviate dalle Prefetture lettere alla XII Commissione per sollecitare l’approvazione della LIS in base alle richieste della comunità dei sordi.Da allora fino ad adesso in questa situazione non sono emerse altre novità, le informazioni date dalla XII Commissione non sono chiare oppure mancano del tutto; siamo fortemente preoccupati, di conseguenza insisteremo a manifestare.

Dopo le manifestazioni e sit-in tenutisi fino ad adesso non c’è stato un risultato, non ci sono state date informazioni, garanzie né risposte; ci aspettavamo che la XII Commissione si esprimesse al riguardo, invece nulla. Il Gruppo LIS Subito! è molto preoccupato e quindi persone sorde e udenti torneranno a manifestare a Roma per richiedere immediatamente risposte concrete.

La sensibilità del nostro gruppo non nasce solo dalle persone sorde e udenti che qui lottano, ma anche da quelle che da tutto il mondo ci mandano il loro supporto. Il Gruppo LIS Subito! si sente più forte, ricevere sostegni ci aiuta ad avanzare nel nostro lavoro e ad affrontare le cose di ogni giorno con sempre maggiore fiducia, coraggio, determinazione, tensione, energia.Ringraziamo pertanto l’intero mondo dei sordi per il sostegno che riceviamo.

L’importante, nel nostro manifestare, è tenere ben in mente l’obiettivo: il diritto di scelta, il diritto all’accessibilità della comunicazione, il diritto di cittadinanza italiana, il diritto a ricevere un riconoscimento pari a quello avvenuto per altre lingue straniere. NEWS LIS Subito! – 5

The long protest session started in Rome in May 25th, 26th and 27th continued on May31st and June 1st with sit-ins in front of several Italian cities prefectures aiming at speeding up the LIS recognition process. On June 1st in Rome the XII Commission, in order to better analyze the proposed bill called up for new Auditions where the following five Institutions expert on the subject were heard: (1) Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies ISTC-CNR  (2) State Institute for the Deaf (ISSR), (3) Cooperativa Il Treno, (4) ESMHD, (5) SILIS. The Members of Parliament listened carefully to the reports of the five group representatives, asking for in-depth information.

However, that day the number of Members of Parliament  present was definitely lower than expected, creating great concern among the LIS Subito! Group; especially with a view to the parliament session due on June 7th, where it was supposed to be decided whether the bill should have been approved or modified and sent back to the Senate.

Since the LIS Subito! Group was really concerned it decided to organize a new demonstration to be held on June 7th, in Rome, with people coming from several places in Italy to ask the immediate recognition of LIS. During that same day sit-ins continued in front Italian cities prefectures. Prefectures welcomed the people demonstrating and sent letters to the XII Commission to urge LIS recognition according to the Deaf community requests.  Since then no news emerged and the  XXII Commission provided unclear news or no news at all; we are truly concerned and consequently we will keep demonstrating.

After demonstrations and sit-ins no result was achieved, information, warrantees and answers were not provided; we were expecting that the XII Commission would have said something on the topic but nothing was said. The LIS Subito! Group is seriously concerned and consequently deaf and hearing people will demonstrate again in Rome to ask for immediate concrete answers.

Our group sensibility does not come out only from Deaf people but also from hearing that fight, and also from all those people in the world that support us. LIS Subito! Group is now stronger, the support we get helps us going forth with our work and face everyday situations with more faith, heart, determination, strain and energy. Therefore we thank the whole Deaf world for the support we are receiving.

The most important thing to keep in mind when we demonstrate is our goal: the right to choose, the right to communication accessibility, the right to Italian citizenship, the right to receive equal recognition as other foreign languages. We will press forward to obtain these goals!
